How are you doing, I hope you are doing very well, previously I talked about what I thought of the Nintendo Wii and I also talked a little bit in that post about the mistakes, successes and some games that I recommended. For this occasion we will talk about the mythical Nintendo 64, console that everyone knows the truth, impossible to consume video games and not know anything about this console, even if you have not had it, and very curious, because it is considered a commercial failure despite being so revered and praised, but well, we'll talk about that later, the fact is that this console in fact I did not have, I have never played on one, all the information I have is out of pure curiosity that I have investigated, and of the many Nintendo 64 games I have played I have done it through the emulator, because the console here was quite expensive and I was not even born at the time of the console, I was born at a time where the Playstation 2 had already come out.

The Nintendo 64 as we all know is part of the fifth generation of consoles, and was one of the group that made the big leap to 3D, along with the Sony Playstation. All the controversy surrounding this console was mostly because of the format that the games were going to have, through cartridges, piracy at that time was strong, and I think the Playstation had the advantage for this, especially here in Latin America, all that was very strong, and as far as I understand, the issue of cartridges was very rejected because it was much more expensive to manufacture them apart from having a very small space, that's why it was very difficult to take advantage of all the Nintendo 64 games, precisely because of the space, because if it had been a DVD console it would have been even more impressive, the history of video games would be very different and I don't know if Playstation would have become the phenomenon it is today, probably not, and that's why this console was controversial apart from being a turning point, if this had been different the industry would be totally different, keep that in mind.

The console as such was much more powerful than the Playstation, in fact the name Nintendo 64 is because it is a 64-bit console, and the Playstation is a 32-bit console, the Nintendo 64 was a console with very powerful technical capabilities for its time, so it could afford to show you scenarios completely in 3D with an impressive level of fluidity, which could not do a Playstation, the issue was the cartridges, but well. At the level of exclusive catalog is a very good console, I will not say that it is the best of Nintendo, because for me it is not, but it has a very powerful catalog in its exclusives as is normal in the company. In terms of multiplatform games it is a console much inferior to Playstation, because it did not have important games from the competition such as Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Silent Hill, and many more, not all companies were willing to work with cartridges and reduce their games in size.

Among the most important games of the console we have some like Mario 64, one of the best games in history in my opinion, inside and outside its genre, it was one of the most important and impressive if you compare it with all the games of its time. Another of the strongest is Zelda Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, very important games in the history of video games, because they changed the paradigm of adventure games and in general how a game is made in third person, is Ocarina is considered one of the best and most influential games, and there I agree, if you evaluate it in its time and compare them with games of that time, you can see that it was far superior and advanced, that's true. And there are more games that were important in general, like Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, Banjo Kazooie, Conker, F Zero, Perfect Dark, Goldeneye 007, Donkey Kong 64, and many more, it is clear that it is a console with many exclusive games of weight and that were important for the history of video games.

Well friends, that was the psot, I hope you liked it, the truth is I never had a Nintendo 64 haha, I wish I had it sometime, that would have been a brutal experience, but it was not the case, and I am not someone who likes to collect or something like that, but I have played many games of the console, and the truth, like everything, it has brutal jewels that will not be repeated in the industry, and that sounds amazing for a console that was considered a failure, impressive.

Qué tal, como la llevan, espero que muy bien, anteriormente hablé de lo que me parecía la Nintendo Wii y un poco hablé en ese post también de los errores, aciertos y de algunos juegos que recomendaba. Para esta ocasión hablaremos de la mítica Nintendo 64, consola que todos conocen la verdad, imposible consumir videojuegos y no saber nada de esta consola, aunque no la hayas tenido, y muy curioso, porque es considerada un fracaso comercial a pesar de ser tan venerada y alabada, pero bueno, eso ya lo hablaremos más adelante, el caso es que esta consola de hecho yo no la tuve, nunca he jugado en una, toda la información que tengo es por pura curiosidad que he investigado, y de los tantos juegos de Nintendo 64 que he jugado lo he hecho a través del emulador, porque la consola por acá la encontraba bastante cara y yo ni había nacido en la época de la consola, yo nací en una época donde ya había salido la Playstation 2.

La Nintendo 64 como ya todos sabemos forma parte de la quinta generación de consolas, y fue una de ese grupo que hicieron el gran salto al 3D, junto a la Playstation de Sony. Toda la controversia que rodeó a esta consola fue más que nada por el formato que iban a tener los juegos, por medio de cartuchos, la piratería en ese tiempo estaba fuerte, y la Playstation creo que tuvo la ventaja por esto, sobre todo acá en latino américa, todo eso estuvo muy fuerte, y hasta donde tengo entendido, el tema de los cartuchos era muy rechazado porque era mucho más caros de fabricarlos aparte de contar con un espacio muy reducido, es por eso que era muy difícil sacarle partido a todos los juegos de Nintendo 64, precisamente por el espacio, porque si hubiera sido una consola con DVD hubiera sido más impresionante todavía, la historia de los videojuegos sería muy distinta y no sé si Playstation se hubiera convertido en el fenómeno que es hoy en día, probablemente no, y es por eso que esta consola fue controversial aparte de ser un punto de inflexión, si esto hubiera sido diferente la industria sería totalmente distinta, eso ténganlo en cuenta.

La consola como tal era mucho más potente que la Playstation, de hecho el nombre de Nintendo 64 es porque es una consola de 64 bits, y la Playstation es de 32 bits, la Nintendo 64 era una consola con unas capacidades técnicas muy potentes para su época, por eso se podía dar el lujo de mostrarte escenarios completamente en 3D con un nivel de fluidez impresionante, cosa que no podía hacer un Playstation, el tema eran los cartuchos, pero bueno. A nivel de catálogo exclusivo es una consola muy buena, no voy a decir que es la mejor de Nintendo, porque para mí no lo es, pero tiene un catálogo muy potente en sus exclusivas como es normal en la compañía. A nivel de juegos multiplataformas es una consola muy inferior a Playstation, porque no contó con juegos importantes de la competencia como Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Silent Hill, y muchos más, no todas las compañías estaban dispuestas a trabajar con cartuchos y reducir sus juegos de tamaño.

Entre los juegos más importantes de la consola tenemos algunos como Mario 64, uno de los mejores juegos de la historia a mi parecer, dentro y fuera de su género, fue de los más importantes e impactantes si los comparas con todos los de su época. Otro de los más fuertes es Zelda Ocarina of Time y Majora’s Mask, juegos muy importantes en la historia de los videojuegos, porque cambiaron el paradigma de los juegos de aventura y en general como se hace un juego en tercera persona, es Ocarina es considerado uno de los mejores y más influyentes juegos, y ahí estoy de acuerdo, si lo evalúas en su época y los comparas con juegos de ese tiempo, se nota que era muy superior y avanzado, eso es verdad. Y hay más juegos que fueron importantes en general, como Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, Banjo Kazooie, Conker, F Zero, Perfect Dark, Goldeneye 007, Donkey Kong 64, y muchos más, está claro que es una consola con muchos juegos exclusivos de peso y que fueron importantes para la historia de los videojuegos.

Bueno amigos, ese fue el psot, espero que les haya gustado, la verdad nunca tuve una Nintendo 64 jaja, ojalá la hubiera tenido alguna vez, eso hubiera sido una experiencia brutal, pero no se dio el caso, y no soy alguien que le guste coleccionar o algo así, pero si he jugado muchos juegos de la consola, y la verdad, como todo, tiene joyas brutales que no se volverán a repetir en la industria, y eso suena sorprendente para ser una consola que fue considerada un fracaso, impresionante.
