Anniversary Time — Nine Years of Hive!

And so, we arrived at January 29th... which also happens to be the date I first encountered this community — completely by chance — nine years ago.
Happy Hiveversary to me... woo-hoo!

It has been quite a ride, and quite a journey of discovery. I've likely learned more about crypto and blockchain than I would ever have thought likely.
Mostly, though, I have always been here for the blogging experience... and in the hopes of being part of the same kind of community I found when I started as part of the "social blogging" movement, back in the late 1990s.
2,769 Posts...
This will be my 2,769th post here, which makes this my most prolific and consistent blog, aside from my private/personal blog which has been going since 2002. But that one is not for public consumption...
The point being, though, that my Hive blog is one of the few things I have managed to stick to for such a long time.

I guess there must be "something" to this place, and to my fellow content creators here, because there has been a lot of interesting stuff to engage with, along the way.
And I am grateful for that!
I have met some interesting people along the way... in that unique and interesting way we "meet" people in virtual space.
People complain a lot about what's wrong with Hive... but there are also a lot of things that are right about Hive. Like the core of actual community members who are just enjoying their participation.
I try not to forget those...

To be honest, I don't have any "special Hive goals" I want to reach by my 10th anniversary, but I do plan to still be here.
Do I hope the Hive token somehow ends up dragging its arse out of the netherworlds? Absolutely! That said, I harbor no illusions that there will be some kind of magical return to "the good old days."
It's still somewhat of a mystery to me why the greater world is so dead set against at least trying out this community.
But the moment you say "crypto" many immediately assume it's something scammy and only marginally legal... and besides "all my friends are already on Facebook and Insta, and I don't know anyone here."
And the moment you mention "rewards," people's expectations immediately dial up to the unrealistic, and they are bitterly disappointed when they don't rival Mr. Beast after a couple of weeks...

Doesn't mean I'll stop trying to persuade a few people to come here... but it'll be "old bloggers" not the general world.
This is a niche gig.
But a pretty cool one.
Thanks for stopping by, and have a great Friday!
