Good day Splinterbuds and HIVE-bees! 3rd day of the 2026 and moving to 4th. Wow! We are just greetings happy new year here and there just some moments ago and we are here now almost ending the first week of 2026. Imagine how fast life time is. Even you say you are just idle the whole day time will still fast past by. I wish you guys you are starting the year as you plan. And for me, I hope I can still stand strong and face the day with lots of energy and positiveness. Better like this as a start with the year. We are getting mature, in skin and bones lol, so better to let the depressing and stressful things not to ruin our health.
Commander Slade As a Rear Guard

For this Social Challenge of our game Splinterlands, i would like to share how good card Commander Slade is. I owned a maxed RF copy of this card and speaking of its stats, aside from having a 10 Mana consumption to be summoned, a perfect tank with great abilities. It does not have healing but its already good with the attack and its speed that can really cause damage to the opponents front formed team.
How about when being placed at the back?
Well, although it cannot attack, or retaliate when being attacked, being in possession of Dodge and Backfire ability, isn't he cute even just standing there at the back of your team? And consider this card can really a stand toe toe with legendary tanks. Well, you can say that it will really a great security on your back entry.
A Battle Sample with Commander Slade As a Rear Guard

It is easier to describe or explain things when it is being represented by a battle sample so let us see how really powerful or maybe I could say lucky Commander Slade is in the battle. For this example, my team is composed of Lux Vega that grants aditional Armor, Life and Speed to its summoned monster units. Baakjira took the First Position followed by Coastal Sentry. Giant Alpine Skink and Commander Slade are placed in the 3rd and 4th positions respectively. We are playing this card battle in 88 Mana Capacity and Four's Crowd, Are you not Entertained?, and Super Sneak on the Rulesets. Super Sneak will give a boost to Commander Slade here so it will gain the ability to attack. Its a good advantage for the card. And we are facing the Dragon Splinters with Quix the Devious as the Summoner. I have a bit advantage on Card levels but the opponents card summons are mostly Legendaries. So i bet this one will have a good battle result. Let us find out.

The opponents team got so much Healer in their monster Units and having a great sets of attack power. But in this round 1, Commander Slade already provided a good defense and the backfire ability is also a great type of counter to the attackers. It was triggered so it provided result.

Commander Slade took the last attack that let my team took the winning moment. Combination of Stun, Backfire, Dual attacks and the aid of Super Sneak plus the Heavy melee damage of my team cut the back security of my opponents team that even got the Heal ability. Speed also is crucial i should say because it adds to the possibility that my opponents Monster Unit's can missed their attacks. And yes, there is also luck on this battle, If there are no missed attacks from my opponents team, there might be another story.
- If ever you are going to upgrade cards and want to keep them on your team, better to check their usage and if needed, their price (probably always yes? right?), for they will be your backbone of your team in your future growth here in splinterlands. So you start with not just love for the game but also a mindset of an investor. Have fun!
