Weekend-Engagement #279: Busy weekends on the go, or quiet and relaxing weekends - Which do you prefer and why? What household chore do you leave to the weekends and why?

This time I decided to mix a little bit two different topics, since as far as I'm concerned, house chores and weekend use are closely connected. Personally, I consider a well-used weekend one spent outside the house seeing something new and different, having fun and learning; if time flies, it means it was enjoyed well. For this reason, house chores must be meticulously optimized as much as possible during the week to leave the minimum for the weekend; working from home helps a lot with this: folding laundry is a huge pain but can be done during lunch break when working from home; the bathroom fixtures can be cleaned little by little between one break and the next; laundry machines well, since no one makes money in the bathroom, those are reserved for the weekend or for the evening when electricity costs less, but it doesn’t matter much, you load it, start it, and leave, no need to keep an eye on it; unfortunately, dishes always need to be washed even on weekends, but for those there's the morning, a bit after waking up (early); then there's vacuuming, which is a tricky thing, it consumes energy but in the evening in an apartment building it’s not very nice to do, it has to be done on the weekend and that’s fine, nothing much you can do; dusting and other small things can be done after work if you don’t come home too late.

This allows you to have almost the entire weekend free, and for me, as I was saying before, that means going out and seeing things; there’s no doubt that everyone has their own idea of relaxation, if you prefer to stay on the couch playing games or watching movies over the weekend, that’s fine, but for me it’s not like that, I want to get to Sunday evening with a few more experiences lived, to take away a new “baggage” from the days gone by, new knowledge; I plan every weekend on a calendar by marking events or things to do so I don’t find myself there saying “what do we do today?” and not knowing what to do, wasting precious time. Just to give an example, this weekend on Saturday we went for a trip all day in a town nearby with WW1 battle sites and visited a museum, and on Sunday a fair with handmade local products, live shows and traditional crafts… for me, there’s no better way to spend time than that!
