Planning Life Over Coffee at Key Coffee Kissaten

What are the things you usually do in a coffee shop, aside from, of course, drinking coffee?

For me, coffee shops are more than just places to sip coffee. Usually, it depends on the day. Sometimes I go with friends to catch up after the gym or after work. Other times, I bring my laptop or a book and just let the cafe vibe help me get things done. Funny enough, I get more productive in coffee shops than at home. Maybe it’s the change of scene? or maybe it’s the smell of coffee?

Do you find yourself more productive in a coffee shop, or do you go there mainly to chill?

Recently, though, our visit had a different purpose: planning. I don’t only set goals during New Year; I like to do it quarterly, to realign my goals and to reflect. Sitting down to reflect every few months gives me a chance to reset and look back on what worked and what didn't.

That evening, after a dinner at a nearby restaurant, we decided to have coffee at Key Coffee Kissaten in Mitsukoshi Mall, BGC.

From the outside, you can already see if the cafe is full. Luckily, a few seats were still open. Most cafes in BGC are always crowded, so finding one that isn’t packed feels like a win. The staff welcomed us, guided us to our seats, and handed over the menus. Unlike Starbucks where you line up,here you can take your time choosing your order while sitting.

The vibe inside Key Coffee was calm but not too quiet. The menu was interesting, too. Key Coffee Kissaten doesn’t just serve coffee and pastries. They also offer all-day breakfast, mains, and even cocktails. It’s the kind of place where you could stay for hours depending on your mood. Whether for brunch, late-night drinks, or just a caffeine fix.

the struggle of choosing from too many good options 😅

Since we were full from dinner, we just ordered drinks and pastries. We ordered Sagada Honey Lavender Latte and Nama Chocolate Latte. We paired them with croissants (our first choice was sold out already).

The drinks didn’t disappoint. The Sagada Honey Lavender Latte surprised me. It was light, refreshing and even visually pleasing. The Nama Chocolate Latte was smooth and not too sweet, almost like drinking Royce’s Nama Chocolate in latte form. Definitely something I’d order again. The croissant was good too!

For the quality and presentation, their drinks were surprisingly affordable. It honestly made me want to come back, not just for coffee and pastries, but to try their dishes and cocktails, too. Unfortunately, we were too full that night, so I'll save that for next time!
