Homework and How Important It Is in a Student's Life and Development

Since I was little, I was always taught that homework would come before fun. I remember to this day when I was about 6 years old and a mother of a boy approached me quite randomly and asked what I do at home first and I answered that I do my homework. My mother, who was nearby, was proud to hear this, because like me, she is also a teacher.
Education is one of the pillars for forming a good citizen. Knowledge is something that can never be sold or exchanged. It is acquired over time and I usually tell my children that knowledge is one of the most valuable things they will have in their lives and that no one can take it away from them. Thanks to school and reinforcement through homework, students can dream of a better future both for themselves and for their family's living.
The Importance of Homework
As a teacher, I have been able to teach at a military school and it was without a doubt one of the best experiences I have ever had. The school level required there is quite high and if students do not follow the guidelines, they may fall behind. Therefore, they were always warned about the importance of studying and doing all the homework that was assigned, because in addition to contributing to their academic performance, it would also help them get better grades.
In the traditional public school where my children study, I realize how much this school level is not as demanding, but I understand. However, there are times when I miss the fact that my children do not have to do homework. Usually, there are three or even four teachers that they can have on a school day and none of them assign anything to do at home, which is quite difficult to understand. In the military school, each subject assigned an activity and that is where we see the difference.
In the meantime, I recommend that my children study the new content that was taught or even research what they still have a little difficulty learning. Being idle these days can be a problem due to the many technological options available to them, such as cell phones, TVs and laptops. I know that these mechanisms can help them to have more knowledge, but they can also get in the way.
I am in favor of schools continuing to assign homework to students. Although they may have more free time to do whatever they want if they don't have schoolwork, I realize how important homework support is in a student's life. Nowadays, more than ever, they have many technological ways to help them with their studies, things that in my time only had in books and notebooks, and they have to make the most of it.
Therefore, it is necessary that schools, especially traditional public schools, not only continue but also increase the amount of homework so that students can gain more knowledge. Especially in the first school years, when students develop the habit of wanting to study. Education is something so essential in a nation and here in Brazil I realize that we are far from ideal, but even so I still have hope that better days can come and that through education, lives can be transformed for the better.

Desde pequeno, sempre fui ensinado que o dever de casa seria primeiro do que a diversão. Lembro até hoje quando eu tinha uns 6 anos e uma mãe de um menino de forma bem aleatória me abordou e perguntou o que eu faço em casa primeiro e eu respondi que eu faço minha lição de casa. Minha mãe que estava por perto ficou orgulhosa de ouvir isso, pois assim como eu, ela também é professora.
A educação é um dos pilares para formar um cidadão de bem. O conhecimento é algo que jamais pode ser vendido ou trocado. Ele é adquirido com o passar do tempo e costumo dizer aos meus filhos que o conhecimento é uma das coisas mais valiosas que eles terão em suas vidas e que ninguém poderá tirá-lo deles. Graças à escola e o reforço através do dever de casa, os alunos podem sonhar com um futuro melhor tanto para si quanto paga a vida de sua família.
A Importância do Dever de Casa
Como professor, já pude lecionar em uma escola militar e foi sem dúvidas uma das melhores experiências que eu já tive. O nível escolar exigido por lá é bastante alto e se os alunos não seguirem as diretrizes, podem ficar para trás. Por isso, eles sempre eram avisados sobre a importância de estudar e fazer todas as lições que eram destinadas para casa, pois além de contribuir com o seu desempenho escolar, também ajudaria eles a obterem melhores notas.
Já na escola pública tradicional onde meus filhos estudam. Percebo o quanto que esse nível escolar não é tão exigente, mas eu entendo. Porém, tem vezes que eu sinto falta de às vezes os meus filhos não terem dever de casa para fazer. Geralmente são três ou até quatro professores que eles podem ter no dia de aula e nenhum deles passar nada para fazer em casa é algo bem complicado de entender. Na escola militar, casa matéria passava alguma atividade e é nesse sentido que vemos a diferença.
Enquanto isso, recomendo os meus filhos a estudarem o que foi passado de conteúdo novo ou mesmo pesquisarem aquilo que eles ainda sentem um pouco de dificuldade no aprendizado. Ficar sem fazer nada hoje em dia pode ser um problema devido as diversas opções tecnológicas que eles possuem como celular, TV e laptop. Sei que esses mecanismos podem ajudar a eles terem mais conhecimento, mas também podem atrapalhar.
Sou a favor de que a escola continue envidando dever de casa para os alunos. Apesar de que eles possam ter mais tempo livre para fazer o que quiser caso não tenham lições da escola, mas percebo a importância que é o reforço escolar dentro de casa faz na vida do aluno. Hoje em dia mais do que nunca eles possuem muitas maneiras tecnológicas para auxiliar em seus estudos, coisas que na minha época só tinha em livros e cadernos e eles têm que aproveitar o máximo isso.
Portanto, é preciso que a escola principalmente as públicas tradicionais possam não apenas continuar, mas também aumentar a quantidade de dever de casa para que o aluno consiga obter mais conhecimento. Principalmente na primeira fase escolar onde o aluno desenvolve mais o hábito de querer estudar. A educação é algo tão essencial em uma nação e aqui no Brasil percebo que estamos longe do ideal, mas mesmo assim ainda tenho esperança de que dias melhores possam vir e que através da educação, vidam poderão ser transformadas para melhor.
