Diligence Pays Off

Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to appreciate being on the same page, and taking a little extra time for due diligence!

Diligence Pays Off
It's good when we have the right people who come to the table!
I don't know why I talk about work a lot lately.. I guess it's because it's pretty entertaining for me and I get to do some pretty cool stuff? Lol. Sorry if it's boring :D
One of the things that's pretty darn cool lately is that, having worked on the team for years before all of this, I got to see pretty well how things went from multiple different perspectives. The perspective I am in right now is a good one for sure, because I got to see how things went wrong and sideways with how people did things before, seemingly haphazardly, whereas now, my direct colleague and I have developed a pretty good system.
Not that we didn't have systems before of course, but it was more of advice and what happened when someone did something was anyone's guess. My colleague and I are of the mindset of "do it right the first time" as much as we can, whereas before it was "get it done as fast as possible and move on" which is always a challenge. I recently saw a pretty accurate and funny meme:
If you don't have time to do it right the first time, what makes you think you have time to do it again?
Damn that is a powerful one! Lol.
Recently I ran into a situation where things just WERE NOT WORKING. I did many, many things to get the shit to work but it was unfortunately someone else that did it, and one that didn't do it very often, and he didn't have the same methodology and interest that my buddy and I now have. Not that we are perfect, but this other dude didn't have a firm and consistent process with which things were done. I spent an hour trying to get the thing to work and ended up having to give up and move onto something else.
A few days later I came back and happened to randomly stumble upon what the actual problem was, when I was trying to do a little bit of documentation for something else. Son of a bitch! LOL
It got me thinking.. I had to spend so much time trying to clean up and fix what was going on from this dude before that it really made me appreciate how my buddy and I are of a very similar mindset, have a very structured and formal way of doing things so that we get as repeatable and smooth of a process that we can, even if it takes us a little bit longer to accomplish it. These days, that quote going back to time is very important!
As well though, the very important thing to all of this is also being open to new possibilities and changes or improvements in the process! If we can find a good process that works, but also be willing to look at and try someone else's process and see if it offers any improvement, then we can really take some great steps in the right direction!
What about you, have you found processes at work that end up being really beneficial and make your life easier, even if it takes a little longer? Let me know in the comments!
