A happy afternoon 🍰☕ [eng-esp]

The Book Fair in my city just ended, and whenever this happens it's hard for me to recapitulate everything that has happened. It always happens to me in the middle of festivals that there is so much information that I look like a crazy ant walking back and forth. Anyway, there was one afternoon that I couldn't forget so easily.

It was already 4 o'clock in the afternoon and my friend Cipriano (@yoecipri) and I were leaving the presentation of the book "Leviathan". Talking we realized that we had not seen each other for a long time, and as if it were an automatic response, I don't even remember which of the two was the one who said "Let's have a coffee".

Walking at 4 o'clock in the afternoon under the sun of Santiago de Cuba is a real task for brave people, but nothing was going to prevent us from fulfilling our task. We spent a long time looking for options that were still open at that time, but most of the places were full of other cultural activities. Almost when the discouragement won, I entertained myself by buying a book in one of the tents that were on the street. I had been chasing this book for a long time, so an unparalleled happiness invaded me. And only then Cipriano and I realized that the best option to drink coffee was right under our noses.

The Casa Granda Hotel welcomed us in its Café - Snack Bar with many offers available. The possibility of paying by card (which is very difficult in most businesses) made it a tempting proposition. Cipriano asked for a chocolate fudge, and I got carried away by him and ordered the same. However, I was thirsty and wanted to accompany the cake with something else. The fact that I'm posting this on a community for coffee lovers is enough to clarify what I asked for 😂.

And I think that coffee is perfect to accompany many desserts, especially when they are sweet, because it creates a perfect combination between sugary and bitter. It's like feeling the glory!

Of course, I must admit that the candy disappointed me quite a lot. Anyway, I was already there, chatting with my friend, celebrating the purchase of my book and drinking coffee, which is the best source of energy to spark a conversation.

We laughed and enjoyed a pleasant moment, but we couldn't extend ourselves much, because somewhere else they were waiting for us to start another of the scheduled activities of the Book Fair. Anyway, I appreciate the bitter coffee and the updated conversation, and I hope that in future occasions I will be able to combine my coffee with better sweets (without the mood to criticize) 😂.

Recién terminó la Feria del Libro en mi ciudad, y siempre que esto sucede me cuesta recapitular todo lo que ha ocurrido. Siempre me sucede en medio de festivales que es tanta la información que parezco una hormiga loca caminando de allá para acá. De todas formas, hubo una tarde que no podría olvidar tan fácilmente.

Eran ya las 4 de la tarde y mi amigo Cipriano (@yoecipri) y yo salíamos de la presentación del libro "Leviatán". Conversando nos dimos cuenta de que llevábamos mucho tiempo sin vernos, y como si se tratara de una respuesta automática, ya ni recuerdo cuál de los dos fue el que dijo "Vamos a tomarnos un café".

Caminar a las 4 de la tarde bajo el sol de Santiago de Cuba es una verdadera tarea de valientes, pero nada nos iba a impedir cumplir con nuestro cometido. Desandamos un buen rato buscando opciones que a esa hora todavía estuviesen abiertas, pero la mayor parte de los lugares estaban copados con otras actividades culturales. Casi cuando ganaba el desánimo, me entretuve comprando un libro en una de las carpas que estaban en la calle. Este libro lo había estado persiguiendo por largo rato, así que me invadió una felicidad sin igual. Y solo entonces Cipriano y yo nos dimos cuenta que la mejor opción para tomar café estaba justo frente a nuestras narices.

El Hotel Casa Granda nos recibió en su Café - Snack Bar con muchas ofertas disponibles. La posibilidad de pagar por tarjeta (cosa que es muy díficil en la mayoría de los negocios) lo hacía una propuesta tentadora. Cipriano pidió un dulce de chocolate, y yo me dejé llevar por él y pedí lo mismo. Sin embargo, tenía sed y quería acompañar el pastel con algo más. El hecho de que esté publicando esto en una comunidad para amantes del café es suficiente para aclarar lo que pedí 😂.

Y es que creo que el café es perfecto para acompañar muchos postres, sobre todo cuando estos son dulces, pues se crea una combinación perfecta entre lo azucarado y lo amargo. ¡Es como sentir la gloria!

Eso sí, debo admitir que el dulce me decepcionó bastante. De todas formas, ya estaba allí, conversando con mi amigo, celebrando la compra de mi libro y tomando café, que es la mejor fuente de energía para avivar una conversación.

Reímos y disfrutamos de un momento grato, pero no pudimos extendernos mucho, pues en otro lado nos esperaban para comenzar otra de las actividades programadas de la Feria del Libro. En fin, agradezco el café amargo y la conversación actualizada, y espero que en futuras ocasiones sea capaz de combinar mi café con mejores dulces (sin ánimos de criticar) 😂.
