Hi my dear Hivers , this is what happened during my day. But first, on the night of September 30, 2025, at exactly 9:59 p.m. a magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck Northern Cebu. The lives were changed in just a few seconds. Even if I am also one of the earthquake victims, I still chose to help. I believe that even in times of pain, we can share kindness and strength with others. I may have lost some important things but helping others gave me something more valuable.

Our psychology department gathered and decided to start by focusing on the most urgent needs: clean water, food, and basic supplies. The first step of our mission began at the Nature’s Spring Water Station in Barangay Dakit , where we bought several cases of bottled water. Clean water is one of the hardest things to get after an earthquake, especially when pipes are damaged or the water becomes unsafe to drink.

After that, we headed to Prince Hypermart in Medellin to buy rice, canned goods, noodles, and other essentials. It was heartwarming to see people in the store also buying items for donation proof that kindness spreads quickly when times are hard. Every item we packed felt like a small piece of hope we could send to the families who lost almost everything.

Once our supplies were ready, we drove to San Remigio City Hall, which had become one of the main relief centers for the Northern Cebu earthquake victims. That’s where our real volunteer work began. Together with other volunteers and the Philippine Army from Siquijor and Dumaguete City, we joined forces to repack the relief goods.

Inside the station everyone was moving with purpose. Some were carrying sacks of rice, others were filling bags with canned goods and noodles, while others were stacking boxes of water. Despite the heat and exhaustion, the spirit of teamwork and bayanihan kept us going. The soldiers were kind and cooperative, helping us lift heavy supplies and organize the goods for distribution.

Today we focused only on repacking the relief goods since we plan to deliver them to the houses and every barangay the next day. Even though it was tiring, we were filled with excitement and hope knowing that tomorrow, we’ll be bringing these packs directly to the families who truly need them. What touched me most was seeing how everyone soldiers, volunteers, and ordinary citizens worked hand in hand. When we finished, we saw some people by the roadside on our way home. They looked tired, hungry, and thirsty. Some were holding empty bottles, hoping someone would stop and give them water.

This experience opened my eyes to how powerful unity and compassion can be. Even in the darkest times, people can come together to bring light and hope. I am deeply thankful to the Philippine Army from Siquijor and Dumaguete City for their quick response and generous support, as well as to all the volunteers who gave their time and effort to make this mission possible.

If you have a heroic and caring heart, I’m inviting you to be part of this mission of hope. Many families in Northern Cebu are still struggling to find clean water, food, and safe shelter. Even the smallest help a few bottles of water, a pack of rice, or a simple act of kindness can bring comfort to someone who has lost so much.

If you wish to lend a hand or send support, please feel free to reach out to me directly. Together, we can continue bringing smiles and relief to those who need it most. Let’s keep showing the true spirit of bayanihan helping one another not just in words, but through action.
