INTRO

Hello Battle Wizards and Mages of Preatoria, it seems odd to say Witches for some Reason (mental note to take a look at splinterlands collection of witches Cards Units), i wanna figure out why I find it odd, could it be because of my recent Campaign mode Adventures?

Anyway, being a long time player of Splinterlands, I started playing in 2021, So I know how intense, nerve wracking and Exciting it is to Play. So for this current trope, I've decided to uphold a Gaming style where I test, refine and master any desires that hit me while playing, we could call this a "maestro-top-down" approach. In other words, I wanna see what it would really take to master the Game.

Getting back into the game, I felt like I was too late to the party, the Cards are an absolute Wonder, and I find myself going through the Cards Market and wondering (such great cards, i could envision the attack power of this trio combination in battle, But it couldn't be that easy right), the one thing I'm most Curious and Cautious about is this: Counterattacks.

When I develop a near-perfect strategy combination, And of-course this should win me battles:

  • I also expect that some Player Cards I'm unaware about will be able to (counterattack 1) me on those unforeseen flaws, the problem with flaws is they only become obvious when someone points them out (crazy xd),
  • What if the rules and Battle Modifiers fuck up my perfectly envisioned trio (counterattack 2).
  • Lastly, smart players checking opponents Battle History will certainly gain an upper-hand IF they are fast thinkers (i do this all the time)!

I feel like these are the elements I must figure out, That will get me to the level I want (a steady consistent maestro gamestyle ๐Ÿ˜…).

How I got Started - Progress?

A lot has changed since, the Campaign mode being my biggest surprise. soo, we can rack in Foundations cards by playing through Campaign and in fact the animation gives the cards essence, like the fight against the Beast in EP 1, so its easier to understand the Cards.

But I'm taking it in slowly and decided to rent cards since I lacked patience and well, was a little curious to see how I'd do in a battle xD.

Card rentals were smooth and Easy, I rented a few Cards and got stumped, I still couldn't Battle!. As it turned out, you require Archon along with Units cards to Battle. welp, all the more exciting since the Archon provides strategy perks that could overturn a Battle!

My First Battle Wasn't Intense at all

Here, i will talk about my First Battle which I won (nice outcome btw!):

when I last played Splinterlands, my favorite element was Death, I liked death cards so much, because they were always so sneaky, what you see is NOT what you get.

the truth is that, if i was a real mage in real life, I wouldn't be the sort that confronts you upfront lol no, I will be sneaky, camouflage etc. Ambush isn't really my thing though, there should be honour in Battles but instead I would disguise by appearing weaker than I truly am. That's where my preference for Death Element comes about.

After Death, I liked Fire and Earth. Life wasn't a preference for me because I couldn't master it. For this time around playing SP, i decided to start with the Fire Element!

strategy -

my strategy be really simple, i didn't really bargain much with the archon bladestone, well he's good since he does provide extra shield to my units because as you see they have low health, except wayfinder but he was the rear unit.

basically, mana warden needed to be third(3rd unit) since he would give shield to the unit in front, portly, while portly provides extra +1 meele attack to ALL units.

portly really deserves the shield with low health, and rather than having kept mana warden in second position (he also has similar low health), because he CANT give himself extra shield.

im always more focused on durability than attack. because for example, if vicious giraffe in first POS is eliminated, the supposed generous attack of mana warden might not count with two strikes/hit from the opponent (or even one strike), that was my thinking!.

but it has a tradeoff, portly WAS too Slow and got outpaced, his shield just made the team last for a while longer, but he was eventually eliminated, Without even dealing an attack ๐Ÿ˜‚.

Now, in retrospect, i see that maybe I should have switched Mana Warden into second place, an extra shield to vicious giraffe wouldn't hurt (considering the very fact that the ARCHON already provides all units with shield).

I shouldn't have doubled down on utilizing the perk of Mana warden in a decisive way. This is one of those scenarios I guess, where a unit's perk SHOULD be overlooked.

Overall I think this 5-Card Line up is very versatile, for example, some solid lineups I could test are:

  • Portly Cannoneer, Mana Warden, Vicious Giraffe, Wayfinder
  • Wayfinder, Vicious giraffe, Mana Warden and Portly taking the Rare (smart for his +1 meele attack perk)

So yeah, even though I WON the battle, a lot can still be Improved. I'm gonna keep battling and see where it takes me. This time around, I don't wanna Overthink anything, just express my battle desires, test, learn and master what I can!.

That's all!. Thanks for reading my Comeback to SP, and catch you in my Next! ๐ŸŽฏ
