Wednesday walk in Montreal first snow

Today I am sharing a
with you hosted by @tattoodjay .This was last week when we received our first snow. It was quite wet and some of it melted as it hit the ground. I get filled with misery when it snows.
We needed to see my partner's father at his dialyses. We do this once in a while, now that we quit our jobs. We help him into the taxi that takes him home. He likes it.
Of course there were more and more flakes coming down as we left for the hospital.

When we finished up with the dad, we took our walk home. We took a path through a city park. The last time we were here, we were having a picnic and watching the sun set.

I insisted in getting squirrel snacks from the supermarket. We had planned to go there anyway. Marc is not crazy about my squirrel obsession.

I bought some fresh chestnuts. When I got to one of the squirrels. He took the nut and buried it. I wanted him to eat it in front of me.

The second squirrel was busy in a tree, eating a walnut that someone gave him. I was not impressed, but he did give me personal photo session.

We noticed that there were a good amount of cyclist on the road, even with the wet streets. Above is a typical Montreal parent going to pick up her child from daycare. Or perhaps she already did. Or perhaps it's a spoiled dog. That is often the case.

The area is called, "the plateau". It is the only place we like to live. The entire area is lined with row houses. Many of them are rentals.

We can find apartment complexes with quite a bit of character. Sometimes they look like fake castles.

Montreal is known for it's iconic spiral outdoor staircases. These are more likely to be found in central and more older parts of the island.

The staircases can have a twist, or they can be very spirally.

For me they are a cool thing to look at, however, I wonder how many people have wiped out in winter going up and down.

Heading towards home, I noticed another restaurant that has closed down. So many businesses in the city are being sold. It's not a good sight.

There are many public areas to sit and relax with a coffee or a snack. In winter time they are not so popular.

As we continued toward our apartment, it started to get more slippery. I have warm winter boots but for some reason they don't have a good grip.

We noticed quite a few e bikes chained up. We are always afraid to leave ours unattended. All of our regular bikes were stolen or ripped apart.

As we walked I noticed a cute dog in the window of a shop. I walked up to snap a photo.

This little beast was not happy with me and barked me off. "Move along human"!
Perhaps there was some anxiety built up from being shut indoors.

This little guy was one of the lucky ones going for a stroll all dressed up.

These two tough guys were trotting along side the master on a bike. They didn't even have coats and shoes like most city dogs.

This is one of many corner stores. Here in Quebec they are called depanneurs.

This is one of many homes with bright colours painted on. I like the look of these kind of buildings.

The plant life, flowers and trees are colourless at this time of year, but we can enjoy the colours of the homes in the area.

I finally stop at the hair salon, that has bengal cats living in there. Whether open or closed, I can always expect to have a look at the fake leopard kitties in the window.

There seem to be new ones all the time. I have a feeling these are mixed with a regular cat.

One thing for sure, is that they are very arrogant and snobby. They don't give anyone the time of day. "Move along human"!

Finally I see a small rose bud that slipped through the cracks of winter. I just admire the beauty of such a strong flower that fights to remain alive.

Thanks for joining me.
