The drawing/painting class: My favorite visit and the blue week [ENG/ESP]

Greetings to everyone in the community! Today I'm joining you to share another day in my life. This time, it's another day in the classroom in our Drawing Workshop. This month we've been studying Art History, and part of this is introducing the children to working directly with paint and learning its fundamentals, such as Color Theory. So, we started by learning where color comes from, how our eyes work (cones and rods), what the primary, secondary, and tertiary colors are, the temperature tendencies (warm/cool), and understanding (at least a little) the difference between pigment colors and light colors.

¡Saludos a todos en la comunidad! El día de hoy me uno por aquí para compartir con usted un nuevo día en mi vida. En esta ocasión se trata de otro día en el aula de clases en nuestro Taller de Dibujo. Para este mes estuvimos viendo Historia del Arte y parte de este espacio, es que los niños comiencen a trabajar directamente con la pintura y conozcan sus fundamentos. Cómo la Teoría del Color. Así que arrancamos conociendo de dónde surge el color, cómo funciona nuestra óptica (sobre los conos y bastones), cuales son los colores primarios, secundarios y terciarios, las tendencias de temperatura (cálidos/fríos) así cómo entender (al menos un poco) la diferencia entre colores pigmento y colores luz.

Since this is something the children have been looking forward to, most of them managed to finish their color wheel projects, which they had to complete themselves. Some pictures show them doing that. Also, starting this week, we began working with monochromatic colors, with blue being the first color. The children were asked to bring royal blue, white, and black acrylic paints. So, after the color wheel exercise, we started doing quick drawing exercises to warm up before beginning the sketch/outline of the sheet they were actually going to paint. This exercise always gets them on their toes and helps them concentrate really quickly. After giving them guidelines on considering the general to the specific, height, scale, and other details like how to visualize everything through geometric shapes, the kids started working.

Cómo es algo que los niños tienen tiempo esperando, la mayoría logró terminar sus trabajos del círculo cromático dónde ellos mismos debían completar el trabajo. Algunas imágenes se muestran a ellos haciendo eso. Por otro lado, a partir de esta semana comenzamos también con monocromáticos, siendo el azul el primer color para trabajar. Los chicos debían traer pintura acrílicas azul rey, blanca y negras. Así que luego del ejercicio del círculo cromático, comenzamos a hacer ejercicios de dibujo rápido para calentar antes de empezar con el boceto/encaje de aquella hoja que si iban a pintar. Este ejercicio siempre los pone al tanto y se concentran súper rápido. Así que dando las pautas sobre tomar en cuenta lo general a lo específico, la altura, escala y otros datos más cómo ver todo a partir de figuras geométricas, los chicos comenzaron a trabajar.

Some of them only used acrylic paints, others only colored pencils, and some, more daring, used mixed media (paint, colored pencils, chalk). Algunos de ellos solo hicieron el trabajo con pinturas acrílicas, otros solo con lápices de colores y otros más atrevidos, fueron con medios mixto (pintura, lápices de color, tiza). Ciertamente algunos tenían un poco de miedo y confusión cuando montaron las primeras pinceladas, pero a diferencia del grafito y los lápices de color, con la pintura hay "menos control" y se crea una "mancha" que es precisamente lo que se busca. Así que es una cuestión de ir perdiendo le miedo a que no quede exactamente (milimetricamente) a lo que observan, pues aquí la cuestión se enfoca más bien en el color y la forma. Además de que eso se puede corregir, capa sobre capa. Creo que es un comienzo blue. Por cierto, hoy me lleve a mi mamá, quién esta de visita en la ciudad y aquí estamos, de nuevo en la escuelita jajaja sin más que decir, gracias por pasar por aquí.
