Journey to the Ruins of Cusco, Peru: Machu Picchu & Sacsayhuamán / Viaje a las ruinas de Cusco, Perú: Machu Picchu y Sacsayhuamán

Hello my friends, here I’m showing you a little bit of my travels to Cusco, a city full of energy and history, home to the Inca ruins and one of the wonders of the world, the great Machu Picchu, located in Aguas Calientes, Cusco. It’s a beautiful journey to get there, and as a Peruvian, I have some advantages, but tourists must go through some procedures. Let me guide you if you want to visit this beautiful place.

First, visit the official government platforms: tuboleto.cultura.pe or machupicchu.gob.pe, and make your reservation well in advance, especially during the high season (May–October), as tickets sell out quickly. Alternatively, you can buy physical tickets at the Aguas Calientes Cultural Center, but this is more complicated. It’s important to do it ahead of time. Once you arrive, you’ll visit the ruins of Ollantaytambo before taking a train. There are different price options, ranging from economy to luxury, and prices vary from $20 to $300 depending on the carriage.

In Mapi, as we call it, you have two options: the adventurous ones can walk up from Aguas Calientes, the town below, or you can take buses waiting for you. I always recommend taking the bus up and walking down, depending on your physical condition. You can also hire a guide to explain everything to you. I hope you’ll have the pleasure of visiting this beautiful place.

Next, we have Sacsayhuamán, a very important ruin where the Incas held ceremonial sacrifices. It’s very close to the city center, and the entrance ticket costs $40 for tourists, which gives you access to various beautiful Inca ruins. All of them are amazing and have their own charm. Getting there is easy: you can walk up La Resbalosa street, take a taxi, or go on a tour from the plaza. There, you’ll find alpacas grazing freely and one of the best panoramic views of the city. Viaje a las ruinas de Cusco, Perú: Machu Picchu y Sacsayhuamán / Journey to the Ruins of Cusco, Peru: Machu Picchu & Sacsayhuamán

Hola mis amigos, acá les muestro un poco de mis viajes a Cusco, una ciudad con mucha energía y historia donde están las ruinas incas y una de las maravillas del mundo, el gran Machu Picchu, ubicado en Aguas Calientes, Cusco. Hay que hacer una hermosa travesía hasta llegar allá, yo como peruano tengo algunas facilidades, pero los turistas tienen que hacer algunos trámites. Les adelanto algunos pasos por si quieren conocer este hermoso lugar.

Primero, deben entrar a la página oficial, usar la plataforma oficial del gobierno peruano, tuboleto.cultura.pe o machupicchu.gob.pe, reservando con mucha anticipación, especialmente en temporada alta (mayo-octubre), ya que se agotan rápido. También pueden comprar boletos físicos en el Centro Cultural de Aguas Calientes, si quedan, aunque es más complicado. Hay que hacerlo con mucha anticipación. Primero van hasta las ruinas de Ollantaytambo y luego tomarán un tren. Hay de todos los precios, desde el económico hasta el de lujo, los precios varían entre 20 y 300 dólares, ya imaginan que hay diferencias entre vagones.

En Mapi, así lo llamamos, tienen dos opciones: los que les gusta la aventura pueden subir caminando desde Aguas Calientes, que es la comunidad que está abajo, o por buses que están esperando. Yo recomiendo siempre subir en bus y bajarlo caminando, depende de su estado físico, pero se lo recomiendo. También pueden contactar un guía para que se lo explique todo. Espero que tengan el agrado de conocer este hermoso lugar.

Luego también está Sacsayhuamán, unas ruinas muy importantes donde hacían ceremonias de sacrificios los incas. Está muy cerca del centro de la ciudad. Hay tiquets de 40 dólares para turistas, que tienen la entrada a varias ruinas incas hermosas. Todas son asombrosas y tienen su encanto. Es muy fácil llegar, pueden subir por la calle La Resbalosa y llegar caminando o tomar un taxi o un tour en la plaza. Ahí encontrarán las ruinas, alpacas libres pasteando y una de las mejores vistas panorámicas de la ciudad. Espero que se animen a conocer mi hermoso país y puedan disfrutarlo tanto como yo.
