The survival mode is not for the weak and players who have fewer cards because any loss would put your cards on cooldown and they won't be playable until the cooldown is lifted which varies on the type of cards you used.
Legendary cards cooldown is for 2 days which is still fair but epic 3 days, rare 4 days, and common 5 days is too long and if you are always active in another format and you only have one of the cards, then it is not ideal to risk playing and end up having them on cool down.
Some days ago though, while I was checking the messages in the Splinterlands server, a guy made a joke on how the players he is being paired with in survival mode are either using level 1 cards or using only 1 monster in battle, and this kinda made me want to give it a try.
I realized I have untamed cards on Emp-warden that I only use for tournaments since I no longer play the wild format, so it is a good idea to put them into use in the survival mode and the cooldown won't affect me, it would only make me take a rest in playing survival until the cooldown is over
I didn't bother to unflag my cards because I know all the editions of cards like the back of my hand, so I only use the untamed cards and the wild reward cards.
I started my journey in survival mode and it was going well, that guy in the SL server was right, players are often either using 1 monster or level 1 cards so the beginning was quite easy, but I was also paired with players with high-level cards and my first defeat was from Trebuh mehn this guy ain't joking at all, you need to see what he used... He didn't care about the cool-down mode, he came with his best lineup.
Just looking at the line-up, I knew I had no chance at all, He used Eternal Tofu with the thorn ability and I used melee monsters which put me at a disadvantage, I also have Tofu but I dare not use it in Survival mode because of the fear of getting defeated and having it in cool down mode for two days, it will affect my modern play...
I stopped playing after I suffered a defeat from Trebuh cos my Byzantine kitty was gone and the only healer I relied on was also on cooldown but I decided to play again today. The legendary and epic cards on Cooldown are now playable.
I won like 5 to 6 battles before I suffered another defeat from another player, then my winning streak went on again until I unlocked Bronze 11 and I was earning around 1 sps.
I missed an important detail which is any monster that gets defeated would be on cool down, I thought it was only when I lost the battle but even if I win, as long as the monster was killed, it would be on cooldown, didn't realize this on time and was searching for spark pixies for a while lol.
When I unlocked bronze 2, it kinda became harder to win and I lost 3 battles consecutively and I knew right there it was time to stop playing cos my legendary untamed monsters [zaku, kitty, llama] were gone! so my chances of winning now are low, I will need to wait 5 days or 3 days to play again.

These are the cards, playing more battles at this point would only result in more losses and cards on cooldown, it is better to run now so I can live to fight another day.
Survival mode is fun, the target is to unlock Silver League the next time I play, those in Gold League are earning yummy sps there and my Plan is to get there with the untamed and reward cards only...
