Marriage and Age: A matter of Choice, Not Law

There has been a lot of controversy about topics regarding marriage, and one of the topics that people have different opinions about is the Marriageable Range.

Some people prefer to marry a partner who is more older than them, they prefer the age range should be above 5 years and it can go as far 10 to 15 years, they believe such a partner will be matured and also be able to guide them, they are right in some cases but the thing is I don't believe that maturity only comes with age, Yeah I accept that the older you become the more experience you become in certain thing but that doesn't guarantee you are matured... We have older people who behave immaturely, while we have younger people who are more mature and emotionally stable than a grown adult. It all goes down to accepting your responsibilities.

Some people prefer to marry their age bracket because they feel they would be more free with them, the way you will talk to your partner who is the same age with you is different from the way you will talk to your partner who is ten years older than you but again we have some relationship that beat all this theory and when you see some partners you will think they are same age bracket whereas the husband can be 10 years older than the wife.

In the world we are now, especially in my country. A 21-year-old lady sees a 21-year-old guy as a small boy when it comes to being in a relationship, funny how it sounds. The reason is because a year 21 year old lady is kinda ready to settle down with a man but a 21 years old guy is just starting life, he need to grow his finances before he can think of settling down, Most guy tend to be ready for marriage in their late twenties and can go as far as late 30s and 40s because they prioritize financial stability.

A rule that determines the age bracket we can get married to will only lead to chaos, and here are my reasons below.

• Losing out on Potential partners: Genotype has already caused a lot of Havoc in people's lives, those with the AA Genotype don't know what God has done for them because many people have lost the love of their life because their Genotype didn't match, and going along with it is a threat to the life of their unborn children... I have a friend who got heartbroken because of Genotype. Now imagine if a law is passed that we can't marry someone who is a certain age older than us or our age bracket, this will only lead to more heartbreak and poor choices in partners.

• Infidelity: When there is a law that stops people from getting married to the person they love due to age difference, it can lead to a high rate of infidelity... The law can stop people from getting married to their heart's desires, but it can't stop them from cheating... When they get married to someone they don't love because of the law, they can still meet up with their ex, which is something that happens a lot nowadays.

• Make things unbalanced: If a law is passed that only age bracket can get married, it makes things not to be balanced, it means a man of 40 needs to marry a woman who is also 35 -40 years and we all know that men and women are not built the same way, a 35 years old woman can't be compared with a 20 years old lady. Ladies are advised to give birth at an early age to avoid complications. Men are like fine wine; they get better with age, but it is not the same with women. Once a woman clicks 27, they starts getting worried about marriage issues, unlike men, who can still be unbothered about marriage at 40 years.

  Comparing it to the law that state same age bracket can't marry, we have some men who became successful at an early age of 19 -24, such a law is unfair for them because they won't be able to marry their age bracket and can't marry those below cos they are still underage, so such a law does not make any sense.

Such a law puts pressure on people.
