! Wishing you a happy weekend, today I want to share with you the latest initiative from our friend @friendlymoose, focused on religion. Here in Venezuela, the Catholic faith is fervently lived; it is part of our cultural identity, and I would dare say it is the same throughout Latin America. That's why this contest caught my attention. I live in Caracas, the capital city, and since colonial times, the center of power, before politics and the military, was religion. That deep, lasting imprint still persists in our times, 200 years after our independence. Particularly here in the historic center of Caracas, I have been able to count more than 12 Catholic churches. You can literally visit them all in one afternoon, and it is the best expression of how the Catholic faith has an important presence in our lives.

So you can imagine that it would be somewhat difficult to find a temple for this publication, but honestly with so many stories and tales that the city of Caracas hides, there is one church that has always caught my attention and it is this one that I wanted to share with you in this photograph: the Church of Santa Capilla. This church is a reminiscence of our past, when we were already independent and we were forging our own path, in that context and in times of the Belle Époque (1883) the president of the time Antonio Guzmán Blanco, in love with French culture, ordered the creation of an exact replica of the Sainte Chapelle in Paris, since his obsession was to create a little Paris in the center of Caracas. Since then, this church has become an architectural work recognized as a national historic monument and there is no doubt about it, here in the center of Caracas it is the only one I have seen with that marked neo-Gothic style and it is the reason why I love this chapel so much.

I decided to come with my nephew since we had to do some shopping at the market, but unfortunately we found the chapel closed, so we could only take pictures of the exterior facade. It's interesting because in this part of the historic center just one block away there are two other churches, one of which is the main Cathedral of Caracas, but ultimately it's this small chapel that I feel the greatest devotion to and every time I can I go visit it.

Well, friends, this was my entry in this fantastic contest. I particularly liked this one because of the strong idiosyncratic connection it has. I know it's ubiquitous throughout Latin America, but each country on the continent experiences it differently, and that's largely reflected in its architecture and the holy processions that take place there. ! Deseándoles un feliz fin de semana hoy quiero compartirles la más reciente iniciativa de nuestro amigo @friendlymoose enfocado en la religión. Aquí en Venezuela se vive de forma ferviente la fé católica, forma parte de nuestra identidad cultural y me atrevería a decir que es así en toda latinoamérica, por eso me llamó la atención este concurso, pues vivo en la ciudad de Caracas que es la capital y desde los tiempos de la Colonia el centro del poder, antes del político y militar era el religioso, esa profunda huella perenne aún persiste en nuestros tiempos 200 años después de nuestra independencia. Particularmente aquí en el centro histórico de caracas he podido contar más de 12 templos católicos, literalmente puedes visitarlos todos en una tarde y es la mejor expresión de como la fé católica tiene una presencia importante en nuestras vidas.

Así que se imaginarán que sería algo difícil de conseguir un templo para esta publicación, pero honestamente con tantas historias y relatos que esconde la ciudad de Caracas hay una iglesia que siempre me ha llamado la atención y es esta que he querido compartirte en esta fotografía: la iglesia de Santa Capilla. Esta iglesia es una reminiscencia de nuestro pasado, cuando ya éramos independiente y estábamos forjando nuestro propio camino, en ese contexto y en tiempos de la Belle Époque (1883) el presidente de la época Antonio Guzmán Blanco, enamorado de la cultura francesa ordenó la creación de una replica exacta de la Sainte Chapelle de París, ya que su obsesión era crear una pequeña París en el centro de Caracas. Desde entonces esta iglesia se ha convertido en una obra arquitectónica reconocida como monumento histórico nacional y no hay duda de ello aquí en el centro de Caracas es la única que he visto con ese marcado estilo neogótico y es la razón por la que me encanta tanto esta capilla.

Decidí venir con mi sobrino ya que teníamos que hacer unas compras en el mercado, pero lamentablemente encontramos la capilla cerrada, así que solo pudimos tomarle fotos a la fachada exterior, es interesante porque en esta parte del centro histórico justo a una cuadra tiene otras 2 iglesias, una de las cuales es la Catedral principal de Caracas, pero en definitiva es ésta pequeña capilla por la que siento mayor devoción y cada vez que puedo voy a visitarla.

Bien amigos, esta fue mi participación en este genial concurso. Este en particular me gusto bastante por el fuerte lazo idiosincrático que tiene, se que es algo ubicuo en toda Latinoamérica pero cada país del continente lo vive de una manera diferente y eso en buena parte se refleja en su arquitectura y en las santas procesiones que se realizan.
