Control Is A Fickle Thing!!!

Control is a fickle thing. A very slippery eel that, if we’re not careful, can slip out of our grip. And as a result, many times, we find ourselves going to great lengths just to keep holding onto that illusion of control. Now, it doesn’t always work out, and thus, losing that control really takes a toll on us and messes with our minds. Because let’s face it, if we can’t control the things around us, then what use are we?
So, to always stay on top of things, we try to exert as much control as we can over everything and everyone. As a matter of fact, we become too controlling, trying to control even the things that are beyond us. And all these things only end up with us being heartbroken. That’s the only way it goes.

One of the best ways to approach this is to realize control for what it really is, and know that as a human, you can’t control everything. There are things that are within your control, and there are those that are not. Many times, we leave the ones that we can control and focus only on those that we can’t. We put in so much effort into this, refusing to see or believe anything contrary to what’s on our minds, that we simply can’t move on. Leading to only more heartbreaks.
I think one thing every human should always pray for is the spirit of discernment. The ability to know the things we can control and the ones that we can’t. While this may seem easy, many people find it hard to accept it. You can’t control the weather, but you definitely can control how it affects you. Just because you don’t like the rain doesn’t mean you have to be gloomy every time it pours. You can choose to be less gloomy and think about all the good things that can be done while it rains.

Another thing people will always want to control is other people. The truth is, from time immemorial, people have always found ways to control other people. And not just control them, but control their thoughts and opinions as well. You want them to like you, you want them to see you in a certain way, you want them to have a particular opinion of you…. On and on it goes.
Well, the truth is, that’s never really gonna happen. Because you can’t tell people what to feel or think. No matter what you do in this life, no matter how far you push yourself, how hard you work to get to where you are, there will always be those who don’t like you. There will always be those whose opinions will differ from yours. Even those whom you sacrificed so much for will still turn around and deny you.

These are things that we can’t control. Instead, we should learn to focus on the things that we can control, like how such people affect us and the amount of attention that we give to them. Wasting our precious time with them is nothing but injustice. While we can’t control the people, let’s learn to control how they affect us instead. That’s the only way we can secure our peace of mind.
There’s one thing I’m gonna conclude this post with. When worrying about a situation, ask yourself; Is it something you can change? If yes, then change it. If not, then stop worrying, because it’s beyond your control and nothing would change that. When we accept this, life becomes a little bit easier.
