This was the first time I had taken this walk for a very long time, since last year, I think. I was wondering whether I would be able to do it and keep going the rest of the day: yes, I could.

This is one of my favourite views. I love a path with a gateway, entrance or exit, or just disappearing into the distance. The sun was beautiful, as it has been for the past ten days or so, and it was mild and calm. Everyone was happy and greeted me as we passed.

Some of the camellias looked glorious in the sun. I've missed so many, not getting here until this late in the year. We came for crocus Sunday at the end of February but it was raining (perpetually), so we didn't explore.

A white variety among the reds and pinks, very classy, but I love the pink-red flowers against the green, so hardy!

The Desert House is very commanding! There was a woman sitting knitting in the sunshine just outside the Desert House.
