How Plants Grow:
Plants are all around us, from big trees to small flowers. But have you ever think that how does a tiny seed grow into a big plant? Let’s learn about the plant life cycle in 5 simple steps.
1. Starting as a Seed:
Every plant begins as a seed. Seeds are like tiny boxes with a baby plant and food inside. They wait for water, warmth, and sunlight to start growing.
2. Sprouting:
When a seed gets what it needs, it starts to sprout. The seed opens, and a tiny root grows down into the soil. At the same time, a small shoot grows up toward the light. This is the first step in the plant’s life!
3. Growing into a Young Plant:
The shoot grows into a young plant with small leaves. Now, it can make its own food using sunlight, water, and air. This is called photosynthesis. The roots grow deeper to collect water and food from the soil.
4. Becoming an Adult Plant:
The young plant grows bigger and turns into an adult plant. It grows more leaves, stems, and roots. When it’s ready, the plant makes flowers. Flowers are not just pretty—they help the plant make new seeds. Bees and butterflies help move pollen from one flower to another. This is called pollination.
5. Making New Seeds:
After pollination, the flower turns into a fruit with seeds inside. These seeds can grow into new plants. They get scattered by wind, water, animals, or people. When the seeds find a good spot, they grow into new plants, and the cycle starts again!
Fun Fact:
Did you know sunflowers can grow from a tiny seed to a tall plant in just a few months? Nature is amazing!
