Spurs have lost 9 games now the week after they beat Man City. Spurs also have this knack of losing a game before an international break to leave us fans in a lull asking questions why the performance was so bad after the magnificent performance in the last two games. The game started against Bournemouth really upbeat having gained 6 points out of 6. Thomas Frank named the same team as last week against City with 4 at the back and two sitting midfielders. Solanke was out injured so Richarlison after a strong start in the league kept his place as predicted. I knew Bournemouth would be tough but I did think we could win it.
The game started with Spurs not being able to string a pass together and it was noticeable within the first 5 minutes from Evanilson that Spurs were in for a very hard day at the office. Bournemouth had chance after chance and Spurs went down 1-0 after 5 minutes. This was a minor blip but after 10 minutes we should have been 0-3 down. Spurs were being outplayed and any ball up to Richy was bouncing off him. He was having a bad day. Johnson on the right was terrible and Kudus was not getting any of the ball on the other flank. With the attack totally sterile it was easy for Bournemouth to go on the attack alot. By half time they should have been out of sight.
There were no changes at half time but it was clear they something had to change. We needed someone in midfield to get a hold of the ball so Bergvall came on in the 54th for Palhinha. Odobert also replaced Johnson who was the worst player on the team. Now Bergvall did give it ago and the two best players on the pitch were him and our keeper Vicario. Udogie and Tel came on also and Spurs did improve slightly but we only had one shot on target the whole game whereas Bournemouth had 6. We did not lay a glove on them.
The referee didn't help and he got booed at half time and full time. The press thought this was Frank getting booed considering our display but it was not.
So once again like last year and the year before the players leave for international break. However all is not lost as we have a number 10 in the door that looks exciting in Xavi Simon and one more on the way whether is Akanji or Morgan Rodgers. All will depend on results this afternoon but we will take 6 point out of 9 with West Ham on the 13th September at 5.30, I won't be getting too down and out yet.
Champions League
The Champions League draw is down with some tasty figures with Spurs coming up against PSG away , Dortmund at home and Frankfurt away. I normally try to get to at least two games per year. 1 champions league and 1 league tie at home. I usually go to a Champions League game in Germany and as look would have it we are playing Frankfurt where I used to work for a while so I will try and get to this fixture. So if there is anybody on Hive high up in Entract Frankfurt let me know. I fancy a night in the Anglo Irish with a few of my German / Scottish buddies who still. go there. ;-D
