The Cashless Policy.

Exhaustedly, Joan got out of the Keke Napep after she sighted a Guaranty trust bank from afar and she was going to be withdrawing some money from its ATM gallery. It was the cashless policy period and everyone tried to get some cash by all means.
On getting down from the Keke Napep, she saw a very long queue but was there any choice? No. If she didn’t withdraw some money at the Guaranty Trust Bank, she may not be able to withdraw where else until she sees another branch of the same bank.
Good afternoon sir. Please do you have an idea why no one is queuing at the front of the second ATM stand?, confused and exhausted Joan asked an old man right in front of her when she found out that the second ATM stand had been abandoned.
Yes, the other stand isn’t dispensing so we have to wait till it gets to our turn, the old man said to Joan as they moved forward each time someone is done using the ATM stand.
Tired Joan had already spent over forty minutes on the queue but it wasn’t even her turn yet. Everytime when she’s about to move forward, some people come to join the queue again. Those where people who were sitting while others were standing but make sure that their eyes were on the queue so the can join the queue when it almost get to them.
This got a lot of people angry.
I’m sure this would be the last time someone will join this queue because this is very annoying. Why can’t you all just stand on the queue like we all are doing,? a lady who was tired about those who were joining the queue at the front yelled.
So many tired people like Joan also yelled and the whole crowd began to murmur. Immediately, those who were guilty of that act joined the queue and no one was sitting anymore.
Suddenly, a man got to the ATM stand to withdraw his money as well but he spent five minutes there.
What’s going on, dude,? someone asked and others began to shout too.
The ATM machine isn’t dispensing anymore, he said. Arghhh, the crowd screamed.
Joan became so angry because withdrawing some money at the Guaranty Trust Bank ATM stand was her last hope. It was the cashless policy period it is likely not to get some cash in another place.
What’s all these rubbish? What’s even going on in this country? This cashless policy is like a punishment, a lot of people in the crowd were just saying different things based on the fact that they had queued under the sun for minutes and some people, over an hour but they could not get cash. They scattered the line and some people who felt just sat on the stairs thinking of what next to do.
Joan, who was coming from the market and was extremely tired even before she got to the bank just sat on the floor and began to cry.
Oh God. Where or how will I get cash? I don’t even have a dime that will take me home until I withdraw, she cried.
The old man, who stood in front of Joan on the queue went silently to the other ATM machines to try if they were going to work. He tried them all and they didn’t work. The man thought of giving it one more try because he was also hopeless and didn’t have any money on him.
Surprisingly, one of the ATM machines dispensed some cash. The man made sure he took enough money from the ATM machine and then, he shouted this machine is dispensing.
Within three seconds, everyone rushed there and wanted to get their cash. Some were pushing others and the man said, Hold on, everyone. There was a young lady behind me before. Where is she?, he asked.
Everyone started looking around and saw Joan leaving the bank premises. Immediately, everyone shouted, lady!!!!.
With the way they all screamed, Joan looked back to see why they were all screaming and she saw everyone beckoning at her.
She didn’t expect it to be a good news anyway since the ATM machine has stopped dispensing cash but she got there and the man told her to withdraw her money before every other person.
She got there and was able to withdraw her money.
Thank you everyone. I was about trekking to the house because I didn’t have any cash for my transport fare, Joan said to everyone she saw beckoning at her when she was about to leave.
Then, everyone formed another queue so they all can get money. Luckily, the ATM card stopped dispensing cash after the last person had withdrawn his money.
