Greetings to you all on this beautiful day being the first monday of the month and of the year 2026. It is so nice and i feel so great to be here again this year in this great community @needleworkmonday i pray that this year shall be a productive and positive year for us all. I want to appreciate you all once again for your tireless support, comment and encouragement to my blog. I promise to always share with you beautiful outfit and other creativity to make this year a great one for us all.

Today, i will be sharing with you all just as i always do, the cutting and sewing process of this white gown outfit made with lace fabric with a stylish pleats at the center front for my friend's mother.

I still don't understand why most fabric bought for older women of about 70years above is always white, maybe some day, i will ask and if you have any idea about it, please share in my comment section. Most of the fabric bought for my mother in-law is mostly white as well as my mom, anytime I'm opportuned to sew for an aged woman, it will always be white or probably its just a coincidence.....

My friend got this fabric for her mother to wear to church on the first Sunday of the year for the new year thanksgiving servive in church, she suggested i make a gown outfit for her as it will be comfortable and free on her. What i did was just to make it stylish be making a pleat on the center front with some bottons to make it beautiful.

Join me as i take you through the cutting and sewing process.

The lace fabric of 5yards was folded in 2 vertically as i Mark out the necessary bodice measurements on it to cut the front bodice.

The front bodice was cut out and placed on another folded fabric to cut out the back part with zipper allowance at the back

On the front bodice, i made i cut at the center front to the waistline where the pleat would be, the i cut out a long piece from the egdes of the lace and it was pleated on the opening on the center front on both sides

On the center front, i cut two pieces to make a placket in front to cover the opening on the center front while the back part was sewn together with a zipper at the zipper allowance at the back and it was sewn together to the front bodice at the shoulder line

For tge sleeve, my friend actually told me to make the sleeves longer for that's what her mom would prefer, do i cut out a stylish sleeves and sew it to the armhole circumference

Finally, the neckline was pipe round and a used my hand needle and thread to fix a fashion button on the center front.

The hem of the gown was folded and sewn together, this is the final outcome of the outfit i made for my friend's mother, i hope you like the simplicity and beautiful outcome.
