Pleasant greetings to you all.

I recall stating clearly that the end of July through to the month of August are filled with parties. These parties are mostly school graduation parties which is a norm in many Nigerian school settings.

Usually this graduation ceremony is organized to say farewell to the outgoing senior secondary school students while also welcoming junior secondary school students in the senior classes. Primary schools are not left out as well as they say farewell to the Basic six pupils into secondary school life. For many families, it is a milestone celebration and parties like these are done with pomp.

Last week Thursday, I had the privilege of attending a school's graduation party at Pipeline village, Badagry. I was invited by a friend who happens to be a staff there, so getting access was easy. I sat down in an available seat at the back since the front rows were already crowded and for once, the things that happened made me appreciate back seats.

Usually, whenever the servers came to serve things, they began from the front but at this party, they started from the back. They began by serving small chops and peppered puff puff and fruit salad. I was just collecting everything that was served back to back. There was no need to respect myself because my friend is kinda like a top staff there, lol.

In my enjoyment, I forgot to take pictures of the fruit salad but I only took pictures of the puf fpuff. The school's presentation was lively and top notch and the director of the school did something that made me smile. He gave a young boy in Grade 4 scholarship for one year due to the boy's honesty. Apparently, the boy saw some money on the ground. The money was about nine thousand naira. He picked up the money and returned it to a teacher.

When I heard this, I supported his scholarship too because such virtue is now dwindling in our young generation. I'm sure his parents would be very proud of him. I stayed a while at the party and when it was time for me to leave, my friend did me justice by giving me a pack of food and drink. I went home to enjoy myself.

As if the enjoyment was not enough, three days ago, I attended another graduation party. This school is actually owned by a former colleague. She left to start up her own school and she was celebrating her first completed academic session.

Although there were no small chops at this party, it was still a great event. Parents were all smiles as they watched their kids perform. The highlight of the event was actually the hausa choreography. Mehn, you guys need to have seen the way the girls were breaking their waists in the dance. It was so fun watching them do their thing.

When it was time for me to take my leave, my friend gave me a love shaped bowl as a souvenir, a pack of salt and a plate of food. To be honest, I wasn't expecting her to cook because her school just started but she did anyway and I was happy for her.
