Greetings everyone 😁, welcome to my page

I appreciate the privilege of being an onboarder on Hive under the spendhbd project. As a result, I have met a diverse range of people, from those who take life seriously to those who are more lighthearted, also people who don't like hard work but they want money.

To help the newbies keep growing, there is a need to meet with them once in a while, meetup is one way to create a strong bond among Hive users.

Last meet up for the year

I created a WhatsApp group where all the newbies I onboarded can easily communicate and ask questions, making it easier for them to grow on Hive.
There in the group, I announced the date and time for the meetup.

The meetup was held at Hugo Frys and Grills. At first, I was thinking of approaching the owner with the spendhbd project, but she wasn't friendly, so I didn't make the move. Later, I was happy I didn't approach her because she was so rude to us.

This group consist of 21 hivers, but only a few made it to the meetup, so we have to proceed with the number of people available.

Before we started discussing we placed orders for Sharawama and drinks for refreshment, which cost 2.5 hbd per person, then we moved to the agenda of the meetup.

After marketing, we had a meetup where we discussed so many things.
At present was @sarahbaby @ozibaby @amara24 @joonnagold

Things we discussed

  • Why be consistent?

One challenge most newbies face is discouragement, yes most of them slow down or even stop engaging on Hive because they don't get rewards, they see people who do little to nothing get fat rewards but nothing for them, mostly when they are not they patient type.

So I highlighted more on the need for everyone to understand that Hive is a social media platform, Hive is not a get-rich-quick scheme, yes you can earn from Hive but that shouldn't be the focus, the focus should be on engagement and making new friends, because curation is not guaranteed so placing their mind on rewards will discourage them.

  • Explore and learn new things.

Instead of focusing on rewards, focus on learning new things. I taught them how to join some communities like Actifit. I helped @sarahbaby download the Actifit app and log in, then helped her know how to create content on the Actifit front end.

  • Remain Active and Original and create quality content.

Most time newbies are struggling with how to use pictures that are not original, so we discussed the importance of using original pictures, reducing picture sizes to make a quality post.

We also discussed the importance of writing above 300 words, making content more captivating and inviting to readers not just for posting sake.

  • Questions and answers time.

They all ask different questions, and we discussed the challenges they face as newbies and how they can overcome them.

Finally I obliged them to always read rules of community before posting to avoid getting downvote or being muted because that was one challenge that most of them are facing.

  • Refreshment time.

After all that we had to have some refreshment, we had shawarma and water, the shawarma wasn't a good one, we regretted not getting maybe pepper soup from our usual spot but it was too late.

Conclusively we took some pictures and went home, hopefully by January 2026 we will meet again and more newbies will join us
