Pallus fan art | Splinterlands week 341 art contest

Hey hey! So I did a bit of rendering today. I was supposed to do some mermay prompts this weekend but apparently I left the list I made that had all my art plots and prompts back in the lab. good thing I'm back in the lab now so maybe in the next few days I'll focus on those and squeeze in my weekly activities. Or at least try to. My spirits are a little low again because my application to Canada was canceled by the company so I guess I'm back to square one.
And so my mood has just been black and white and I think I only want to draw black and white for a while ;;-;;

So I tried doing Pallus because I already did the tower griffin. And they do seem to be related so I went with this XD
It's not purely black and white as I wanted because drawing with my man cheers me up, but yeah. Still fucked up.

Going to my progression:

I did the backgrounds first. The mountains and all because I wanted it to be a flying big guy plus it would look so good if I tried doing a dynamic drawing for once.

Then this is me, building up the shades, shadows and depth because it's always been easier for me to do the shading than the highlights plus I always tend to do my detailing this way.

At this point, I was working up my color by using the gray that was a little lighter than my base color. And little by little I slided it up to white. And usually my highlighting takes the least time because there's not really much that needs highlighting but my focus on the white is to give it some life Nad dimensions instead of it looking flat af.

Then after 2 hours, my pallus is done~~
