Rasulullah SAW said:
When I was raised to the sky, I saw an angel who had a thousand hands, and on each hand there were a thousand fingers.
While the angel was counting on his fingers, I asked Jibril:
Who is the angel and what is he counting?
Gabriel replied:
He is an angel assigned to count every drop of rain, he memorizes every drop of rain that is sent down from heaven to earth.
I asked the angel:
Do you know the number of raindrops that have been sent down from the sky to the earth since Allah created the world?
The angel replied:
O Messenger of Allah, by Allah who sent you to bring the truth, I not only know every drop of rain that falls from the sky to the earth, but I also know how many drops of rain fall on the ocean, on land, on buildings, on plantations, and in cemeteries.
Rasulullah SAW said:
I admire your memorization and memory skills in calculations.
The angel said:
Ya Rasulullah, there is something I can't memorize and count.
Rasulullah SAW asked:
Counting what is it?
The angel replied:
I cannot count the reward of the shalawat that is read by a group of people from your ummah when your name is mentioned in a majlis.
