Happy new week needle workers!

How's your project coming on? It's been a mixed feeling for me. Some days I'm extremely excited, active and energetic, others days I'm frustrated, and barely sleep.

Well, I'll love to share with you a project I did over the weekend.

Aunty Lade's stylish dress.

She was referred to us by one of my existing client. And she had about three styles to make. However, she wanted to be sure if I was good or not, so she brought this floral crepe to test my skills.

She showed me a style on Pinterest and asked if I could recreate it.
It's a fancy bubu which can be styled in different ways.

Trust your girl to deliver exactly as seen. I assured her and got started.

I folded the fabric into four, marked out the neckline.

For the back, I made a round neckline of about three inches in width and one inch in depth.

For the front, I made a vee neckline of about eight inches in depth and three inches in width.

I drafted the collar with a black full face fabric, turned and attached to the neckline.

It's a style that can be worn either loose or free. Hence, the belt.

The sleeve wasn't cut out as it's together with the full bodice. I went ahead to join each sides on my sewing machine.

I folded the hem and sleeve for a near finishing and it came out beautifully.

Here are the different views of the outfit.

Here's the up close view of the drape at the front of Aunty Lade's dress.

When she came in for fittings, she loved it. She has picked up her dress and dropped another.

It's exciting to see how much she has trusted us.

What do you love most about this dress?
