Greetings, community!

As many of you know, Aliento, which is also a project dedicated to education, curation, and supporting multiple communities, also serves an important role as a block validator on the Hive blockchain.

We started validating blocks in April 2022, and since then, our ranking has steadily improved. Over time, we've realized that to remain among the top witnesses, it's not enough to promote Hive across both Web3 and Web2 — it's also vital that the community trusts us and that we have the right hardware to ensure a reliable and stable service.

A New Stage, A New Server

Considering that, we've decided to move on from our Privex server, or keep it as a backup node, and acquire a new server with much more advanced specifications.

The new machine has the following specs:

  • 14 cores
  • 49 GB of RAM
  • 1.4 TB of storage

This server is much more powerful than the previous one at Privex, and what's most interesting is that it costs slightly less.

Additionally, we took advantage of this upgrade to welcome Hard Fork 28. You can read more about the Hard Fork in the post we published last week:

Technical Setup

This time, we're not using a Hive Node in a Box, but instead followed the guide created by @gtg, available at the following link:

Acknowledgments

We want to thank everyone who supported us during this process — especially @eddiespino, @enrique89, @dimeilaz, @shadowmyst, @meno, and @hivetrending — for sharing their knowledge and experience to help make this upgrade possible.

Aliento's growth as both a validator and a community wouldn't be possible without the support and dedication of those who believe in our mission to strengthen Hive.
