My Travels in 2025 & Plans for 2026 / 今年の旅、来年の旅の予定

I traveled quite a lot this year, and since I’d love to keep enjoying good travel next year as well, I thought I’d write about my travel of 2025/2026. As a little bonus, I’ll also touch on the topic you can’t really avoid when talking about travel: money.

Travels in 2025

I made a list, and it turns out I traveled to 7 countries and 17 cities. Many of these trips were neither purely work nor purely holidays, but a mix of both — which felt pretty ideal for me.

On 5 or 6 of these trips, I cooked at the destination or introduced food products that I usually make. My dream is coming true ☺️

I traveled to Graz and Krakow by train, each journey taking more than 10 hours. Especially the train to Krakow was tough — even in first class, it was a six-person compartment and felt cramped. For trips like that, I’m starting to think it might be better to just fly. Learning by traveling 😉

Being able to take first-class trains for many long-distance journeys this year feels like a small step forward for me ... I write about it later but I didn't become a crypto millionaire.

There’s still one more trip left this year: a family Christmas holiday in Berlin, which I’m really looking forward to as well.

Travel plans for 2026

There are already a few exciting trips that are almost confirmed. Beyond that, I’m quietly hoping I might get invited to India someday — a destination I missed out on this year.

I also want to apply for residency programs and competitions, and hopefully travel more for making and exhibiting work. And since cooking while traveling was such a joy this year, I’d love to continue doing that next year too.

The unavoidable topic: money

Of course, traveling costs money, and there are always parts you pay out of pocket. But when travel is combined with work, being self-employed helps — some costs can be declared as business expenses, and often the host kindly covers travel costs.

This year, I was invited on several trips. One of the great things about being invited is that you get to visit places you might never have chosen yourself. The stunning view from Augustusburg Castle in the image above is something I only got to see thanks to such an invitation.

Traveling first class by train has been possible thanks to my partner, who loves bargain hunting and travel so much that they even started a travel-related business. Because of that, my transportation expenses haven’t increased much compared to before.

My next dream is flying business class. I already have a little plan for that too — maybe it’ll come true next year. If it does, I’ll definitely write about it on Hive Blog.

For Hive-related ticket costs and similar expenses, I use the funds I’ve earned through writing on Hive Blog. There’s something really satisfying about that direct connection between what I do and what I can spend.

So even without being a millionaire, with a bit of creativity — and by casually telling people around you “I’d love to travel” — I truly believe traveling is possible.

In closing

Being able to move freely is a wonderful thing. I’m also very aware of how lucky I am to live in Europe, where crossing borders over land is so easy.

The more I move, the more ideas seem to come to me — that feels genuinely true. Next year, I want to keep moving, keep creating, and make lots of things along the way.

今年は結構旅をして、来年もたくさん旅をしたいなと思ったので、旅について書こうと思います。おまけとして、避けては通れないお金の話も。

2025年の旅

一覧にしてみました。7か国17都市に旅をしました。仕事だけでも休暇だけでもない、両者のミックスの旅が多く、かなり理想的でした。うち5-6回は旅先で料理をしたり、普段作っている食プロダクトを紹介できたりで、これも夢が叶った感じです。

グラーツとクラコフには10時間以上かけて電車で行きましたが、特にクラコフへの電車はファーストクラスでも6人がけのコンパートメントで窮屈だったので、こういう長旅は潔く飛んでしまうのもありかもと思いました。Learning by traveling. でも、今年は長距離の電車の旅の多くはファーストクラスで移動するようにできたのは一歩前進です。

まだもう一つ、家族でのクリスマス休暇のベルリンが残っていて、これも楽しみです。

2026年の旅の予定

もういくつかほぼ決まっている楽しみな旅の予定があります。このほかにも今年逃したインドにお呼ばれしないかななんて夢も。あとはレジデンシープログラムやコンペに応募して、制作や展示での旅行もしたいです。今年楽しかった旅先での料理も来年も引き続きたくさんしたいです。

気になるお金の話

旅行にはもちろんお金がかかるし、もちろん自腹の部分もあるのですが、仕事と組み合わさっていると、自営業なら経費にできたり、あとは先方に旅費を持ってもらって旅行することもできます。今年はお呼ばれでの旅行が何件かありました。考えてもいなかった新しい土地に行けるところもお呼ばれの良さで、冒頭の画像のアウグストゥスブルクのお城からの絶景はお呼ばれのおかげで見ることができました。

電車のファーストクラスでの移動は、バーゲンハンティングと旅行が趣味で、旅行業まで開業してしまった相方のおかげでかないました。なので以前と比べて交通費の支出はあまり増えていません。次の夢は飛行機のビジネスクラスです。これもネタを仕込んでいて、来年には叶うかな、叶ったらHive Blogに書きますね。

Hive関連のチケット代などは、日々Hive Blogで書いて貯まったお金を使うようにしていて、自分のしたことと支出がダイレクトにつながっていてなんだかうれしいです。

ということで、ミリオネアでなくても、工夫次第で、普段から「旅行したいなあ」と思いつつ周囲に言っていると旅行できるはずですよ！

おわりに

自由に移動できるっていいですね。陸続きで国境を越えた移動がしやすいヨーロッパの恩恵にも預かっています。移動するほどアイディアがわくというのは何だか本当な気がして、来年もいっぱい動いて、たくさん作っての一年にしたいです。
