Miu finally decides to go with us. Jijmon tells us what he knows about the world and the children who bonded with Digimon. We decide that the only way to know more is to ask our enemies.

Digimon Survive is a Digimon Visual Novel with Turn-based strategy battles. The game follows a group of children who find themselves in another world, and their desperate attempts to find a way back home. The children find themselves involved with monsters, both as partners and enemies.

This is the darkest piece of Digimon media I ever consumed, and

had pretty dark stuff too. Digimon Survive fuses the concept of Digital Monsters with Japanese folklore. It's amazing how the idea of "child sacrifice" integrates seamlessly with Digimon lore. The specific Digimon they choose for this game enhance this theme.

Digimon Survive is the closest modern entry to the old school Digimon anime vibes. Though, more than the earlier Digimon anime series, the game reminds me more of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor series. In that series too, characters may die depending on your actions.

20 - A Glimpse of Hope

This session is spent mostly in one conversation. After the children defeated Garurumon, they ask Jijimon if he knows anything about this "sacrifice" thing, and Jijimon tells them what he knows...

Jijimon tells them that children come from the human world top this world from time to time, some are sacrificed, while others disappear one day. Every time a child is sacrificed the fog in this world dissipates...

He also tells us about Digimon who bonded with humans. A friend of was such Digimon, and the fact that Digimon is still alive, means that his human is also alive somewhere... They share the same fate.

Also, we're finally given a name for the hands that come out of the fog: Kenzoku! Takuma and his friends debate what to do next with this information...
