Zack Wheeler dominates the Reds Sunday, Offense struggles last night in loss at San Francisco

For whatever reason I've written on the Phillies every other game recently and I am definitely annoyed with myself! Ugh. Well, life gets busy sometimes, it is what it is.
Sunday Zack Wheeler had arguably his best performance in a Phillies uniform! He threw a
while striking out twelve Reds! Just pure domination! It was almost tragic because the Phillies can't seem to score lately. Luckily Bryson Stott saved the day by hitting a bomb of a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth to take the 3-1 lead. Of course Wheeler went and did the rest! The Phillies won their third series in a row afterYesterday though, things were not smooth sailing for the Phillies in what was an awkward 3-1 loss. Cristopher Sánchez had a great game on the mound but the bats have just not been there. Hate to see it, Sánchez fights out there man! As I watch him more and more I'm only becoming a bigger fan. Trea Turner had a really bad play at shortstop, and Orion Kerkering had a really bad outing in relief. Those were two critical errors that cost the Phillies for sure. That and not being able to hit!
Taijuan Walker is set to take the mound tonight for game two. He's a pretty 50/50 pitcher so it should be interesting. I'm glad he's getting another chance to start here, maybe he'll take advantage of the opportunity. If he could somehow be more reliable all of a sudden, this pitching staff will be super dangerous, more than it already is. We'll see.
Oh yeah I should definitely mention, two Phillies are officially 2025 All-Stars! Zack Wheeler and Kyle Schwarber! A few Phillies were kinda snubbed in my opinion but these two are definitely deserving. This is both Wheeler AND Schwarber's third All-Star selection.
Wheeler's stats in 2025:
- 9-3 Record
- 2.17 ERA (4th in MLB)
- 148 Strikeouts (Tied for 2nd in MLB, only three behind first place)
Schwarber's stats in 2025:
- 27 Home Runs (5th in MLB)
- 63 RBI (10th in MLB)
- .382 On-Base Percentage (13th in MLB)
- .251 Batting Average
Pretty great stuff! It's been a fun season, let's hope the Phillies stay locked in the rest of 2025!
