Hello everyone. The culture of tipping a waiter or the person that helps you get your food in a restaurant is very vaguely practiced. And there is no rigid culture for this either. Tips have always been optional but as time went by, more and more people decided to accept that tipping should be part of the whole experience because these waiters do eventually help us to have a small experience. So the gesture towards them by tipping them is quite commonly practiced. But how common is that? If we actually think about it, the subcontinent believes in tips, although most people don't tip the waiters because most of the time either they are stingy or they don't have the money to tip a generous amount. Most of the time the amount is so low that they feel hesitant to tip at all as they risk losing their face.

And let's be honest, if you live in the subcontinent, what culture do you follow far from your own culture? Of course it will be the one you see. On television and on the internet. The culture you interact with almost all the time. And that is the North American culture. Now in North America and countries along those places, tend to spend a lot more openly while eating in a restaurant. So you will see different tik Tok videos where waiters come and talk about their earnings through tips. We have seen waiters earn up to $300- $400 per day just by attending tables. Well if you look at Europe at the same time you will not see this culture persisting. In Europe, tipping is still not a normal thing in life and people generally don't tip. They just come and enjoy the meal and leave. Joy, the country that follows their culture. Also do not tip.

But on a personal level, I think tipping should be continued and the culture should grow even more. Because at the end of the day they do help us in having a smooth experience. So if you can spare some change while being happy at their work I don't see any harm in it. So yeah maybe I will tip when I have experience.
